Bounded Technical Validation
A bounded technical testbed for evidence continuity in critical operations.
FARCASTLE TOT is now preparing a bounded technical testbed to validate whether selected operational context can remain coherent, integrity-marked and reviewable when conventional post-event reconstruction becomes fragmented.
The first validation path is deliberately narrow: it will test whether selected operational context can remain coherent, integrity-marked, bounded and reviewable when a critical or degraded event becomes fragmented across logs, alarms, notes, systems and later reconstruction.
FARCASTLE does not seek to control the asset. It seeks to preserve the evidential structure of what happened, what was observed, what was inferred, what remained uncertain and who had authority at the relevant moment.
Can selected operational context remain coherent, attributable and reviewable across a defined technical scenario when records, interpretations and organisational hand-offs would otherwise fragment conventional post-event reconstruction?
The testbed is designed to challenge that question. It is not intended to presume the answer.
• Capture and sequence — whether selected observations and relevant timing can be preserved across a bounded scenario.
• Evidential separation — whether observation, inference, uncertainty, authority and preserved evidence remain distinguishable.
• Provenance and hand-offs — whether selected context remains attributable as it passes through authorised technical and organisational boundaries.
• Integrity markers — whether authorised reviewers can identify continuity, discontinuity and change in the preserved record.
• Review package — whether the resulting material provides a coherent basis for later qualified review without presenting a model or inference as operational fact.
• Failure conditions — where continuity breaks, ambiguity remains or the architecture requires further challenge.
Measures will be defined before execution and assessed within the stated test boundary.
• Continuity coverage — presence or absence of the selected context required by the scenario.
• Temporal coherence — whether the preserved sequence remains intelligible and internally consistent.
• Attribution and provenance — whether source, transformation and authority remain identifiable.
• Integrity-marker verification — whether designated markers can be checked and discontinuities made visible.
• Uncertainty visibility — whether unknown, inferred or contested elements remain explicitly bounded.
• Reviewability — whether an authorised reviewer can trace the preserved material without relying on an unqualified claim of completeness, causality or truth.
Results will be reported as bounded test findings, including limitations, unresolved questions and observed failure modes. They will not be presented as certification, deployment proof or universal performance.
Certified control remains untouched. Authority remains with authorised human and institutional roles.
• FARCASTLE will not control equipment, enter certified control loops or alter operational setpoints.
• It will not replace PLC, DCS, VFD, safety, navigation, OEM, SCADA or historian systems.
• FARCASTLE makes no predictive claims and does not claim that incidents will be prevented.
• Asset certification, compliance determinations and repair approvals remain with qualified authorised institutions.
• Root-cause determination, liability allocation and formal investigation remain with authorised qualified parties.
• It will not present physically plausible inference as operational evidence.
The testbed is read-only, non-intrusive and limited to authorised validation boundaries.
FARCASTLE is seeking qualified dialogue with organisations and specialists able to challenge the validation question, define credible test conditions or assess reviewability.
• Critical-asset owners and operators considering a bounded technical test environment.
• Industrial engineering, OEM and integration specialists able to challenge interfaces, assumptions and failure conditions.
• Assurance, classification and independent technical-review stakeholders interested in evidence continuity without displacement of their authority.
• Insurance and reinsurance stakeholders examining how fragmented operational context affects later review.
• Research institutions and testbed hosts able to support controlled, measurable and authorised validation.
Engagement does not imply endorsement, partnership, deployment or validation outcome.
